Terry Kath Replica Telecaster

Picture of Terry Kath replica guitar

Pictured above is a replica I made of Terry Kath's famous, highly-decorated Fender Telecaster.

I started with a Fender Squire Telecaster in blonde finish with a maple neck. I routed out the neck pickup area for a humbucking pickup.

I flipped the control panel and put the volume and tone controls in the appropriate positions.

A wonderful web page provides graphic files of the markings on the Kath guitar. (Link below). I downloaded the graphics and printed them on adhesive inkjet paper. I cut them out and applied them to the guitar, then put on a couple of light coats of clear poly finish from a spray can.

This guitar does not have the bridge modification that was done to the original Kath Telecaster, so it falls short of being a 100% replica. Still, it was fun to build.

Unfortunately, I had to reduce the size of my guitar armada and recently sold the guitar.

Special thanks should go to Carl Cubbedge for his fantastic web page on building a Terry Kath replica Telecaster. I could not have built my replica Telecaster without his amazing graphic files! Here's the link: Visit this link for a fantastic page about building a Terry Kath replica Telecaster!
